”Si cambia danza” by Gabriella Stazio, Marialuisa Stazio, Raffaella Tramontano

SI CAMBIA DANZA The impact of Covid-19 on the dance system in Italy is proposed as a reflection on the present and future of live performance. The book aims to give back – also thanks to the crucial contribution of talented and generous scholars such as Alessandro Pontremoli, Antonio Taormina, Adriano Giannola, Roberta Albano – an in-depth mapping of the dance sector and its transformations in the Covid-19 social and health emergency, when the live show business had to face long-standing criticalities and reinvent its present in function of an unknown future.

In 2020, in the midst of the lockdown, Campadidanza Dance Magazine directed by Raffaella Tramontano and published by Gabriella Stazio’s Movimento Danza conducted over 50 interviews, listening to the voices of five categories: production, promotion and training managers, festival and review directors, dancers and choreographers. The work carried out with passion by the editorial staff of Campadidanza.it found the interest of the Department of Political Science of the ‘Federico II’ and the sociologist Marialuisa Stazio.

Thus in 2021, another 30 interviews were carried out by the editorial staff, this time scientific ones, which were then re-elaborated by the University to consolidate the memory of a dramatic, yet highly charged crisis.

Six ‘special’ interviews enriched the volume. Three carried out by Raffaella Tramontano with Donatella Ferrante, who for over 20 years was mainly involved in dance at the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities – now MiC – where she is now a consultant, with Jacopo Godani artistic director of the Dresden Frankfurt Dance Company in Frankfurt, and with Simona Ferrara general manager of the Martha Graham Company in New York. While three other interviews were carried out by Nicola Campanelli, collaborator from Berlin for Campadidanza.it, to Jacopo Lanteri production director of Tanzfabrik Berlin and Festival Tanznacht Berlin, Virve Sutinen artistic director Tanz im August and Toula Limnaios, Greek choreographer and performer founder of the cie.Toula limnaios company.

Contributing to the Campadidanza editorial staff were Luigi Aruta, Nicola Campanelli, Caterina Giangrasso Angrisani, Fabiola Pasqualitto and Maria Vittoria Veneruso.
