Character Dance is a type of stage dance that originated in folk dance and is a stylised and theatricalised version of dances of popular origin.
Today it is one of the main disciplines in the professional training of future dancers; it develops physicality, bodily expressiveness and interpretative skills, and broadens and enriches their performance possibilities.
During the class, a character dance demo lesson will be offered, based on the teaching programmes of the Vaganova Academy in St. Petersburg, and aimed at intermediate/advanced students.
It will be divided into two parts
– exercises at the barre in different characters
– the study at the centre (typical movements and steps, port de bras in national character, the etudes)
Limited availability
You can only book the event online:
– part of the seats is available for booking from Feb. 1, from 9 a.m. until the day before the event, at a cost of 8 euros (entrance ticket to Dif is not included!)
– the other part is available only on the day of the event, free of charge, from 00.00 until one hour before the event.
