All exhibitions at Danzainfiera 2020

Not only masterclasses, workshops, showcases and competitions, #dif2020 dedicates space to two different and unmissable exhibions! First one in partnership with Vaganova Academy Museum and second one dedicated to best moments of 15 years of Danzainfiera. The best way to celebrate this special anniversary together!

VAGANOVA BALLET ACADEMY MUSEUM EXHIBITION

History of Vaganova Balle Academy is carefully preserved inside the “museum” (history cabinet of Russian ballet),  inaugurated in 1957. Marietta Kharlampievna Frangopulo (1901–1979), ballet history teacher, museum’s founder and first keeper, has dedicated her whole life to collect ballet memorabilia.
Museum welcomes precious ornaments: pictures of XIX – XXI century, costumes and personal items of world famous dancers as well as rare books.
Moreover portraits, paintings and sculptures of legendary figures of St. Petersburg ballet: Marius Petipa, Agrippina Vaganova, Anna Pavlova, Vaslav Nijinsky, Marina Semenova, Galina Ulanova, Kostantin Sergeev, Natalia Dudinskaya, Rudolf Nureyev, Michail Baryshnikov and many other artists, whose lives are indissolubly bound to Vaganova Academy.

In occasion of fifteenth edition, Vaganova Ballet Academy Museum will be at Danzainfiera with a special selection of memorabilia: shoes and historical texts as result of cooperation and cultural exchange between Danzainfiera and the Russian institution.

Fifteenth edition of Danzainfiera has in store for public an unmissable event: Dif will be the place for official handover of a pair of Carla Fracci shoes to enrich the already precious collection of Vaganova Ballet Academy Museum in St. Petersburg. These shoes have been worn by Carla Fracci in Eleonora Duse – Isadora Duncan, adieu et au revoir, dance piece performed at Teatro Mercadante di Napoli, in partnership with Teatro di San Carlo, on 15 February 1990.

Official handover will be chaired by Museum Director, Elena Adamenko, Galina Petrova – Head of PR and Communication for Vaganova Academy and other members of academy’s staff.

EXHIBITION INSIDE 15. WE MADE IT POSSIBLE

‘Inside 15’ is the name chosen for Dif’s photo exhibition as “best of” our first 15 years. It will be a journey, actually a growing up, year by year, to revive best moments of each edition through faces of big guests, winners and dancers of every age, which have portrayed their emotions on stage. A special occasion to celebrate small but important moments that have created our history.

This “journey through images” will review each year until fifteenth edition, with a special surprise: Danzainfiera 2020 story will be created live, during the days of the fair. Best pictures of 2020 edition will fill a giant wall mixing dancer, visitors and guests as well as amazing stage moments. That’s not all: social contest will invite visitors to post their pictures on Instagram with #DIFinside15 hashtag. Best images will compose last chapther of this exhibition.
